The faces behind our kitchen

Martin Blejec, Chef
Chef Martin Blejec draws his passion for cooking from inspirations, memories and flavours he has carried since childhood. His culinary creations reflect the cherished moments spent in his grandmother’s kitchen and among loved ones, where every dish told its own story. He is careful to choose ingredients that are, as much as possible, Slovenian, seasonal and locally grown – supporting local producers and ensuring that every ingredient on the plate is fresh and full of flavour. His devotion to authenticity is intertwined with curiosity, as he adds a touch of daring from foreign cuisines. He is especially drawn to Asian and South American cooking, where he finds inspiration in rich spices, unexpected flavour combinations and innovative techniques. At Bled Rose Hotel he ensures that guests taste Slovenian dishes made from local ingredients, refreshed with a hint of inspiration from abroad. Martin is a member of the Slovenian national culinary team.

Urša Sonnenwald, Pastry Chef
With her creativity and vivid imagination, she prepares wonderful desserts. As a pastry chef she trained in numerous Michelin-starred restaurants, and she applies that acquired knowledge every day to create desserts that finish the meal on the highest note – from seasonal desserts to the legendary Bled cream cake.
