Jože the Robot Receptionist: Why Bled Rose Hotel Is Doing This

Bled Rose Hotel is the partner hotel for “Jože” — a humanoid robot built by the Slovenian company Vandri Robotics, presented as the first robot hotel receptionist in Europe. The robot does not replace our team. It takes over the repeatable part of the front desk so our colleagues have more time for the part a machine cannot do.

Who is Jože?

Jože is a humanoid robot: the body is a Unitree G1 platform, while the “brain” — speech, understanding and response — was developed by Vandri Robotics in Slovenia. The project was made public in June 2026 and shown at MWC in Shanghai.

It was reported by Delo, Forbes Slovenia and several national television channels.

What will Jože do at reception?

• greet guests on arrival,
• answer the questions that come up every day — when breakfast is served, where the wellness centre is, how to walk to the lake,
• help with check-in and check-out,
• walk guests to their room.

Why would a hotel do this?

Because reception has peaks. When a group arrives, or at three in the afternoon when half the hotel checks in at once, guests wait. Every question Jože can answer is a minute a receptionist gives to a guest who needs a real conversation — advice on a hike, a table booking, a problem to solve.

This is not about replacing people. A guest who wants a human gets one, always. Jože is an additional option, never a barrier.

Is it just a photo opportunity?

Honestly: yes, a robot at reception is something guests photograph, and we won’t pretend otherwise. But we took the project on because we wanted to find out what this technology can actually do in a hotel — and because since our 2019 rebuild, Bled Rose has been the hotel in Bled that tries these things first.

What does it mean for you as a guest?

Shorter waits at peak times, an answer to a basic question whenever you need one, and something you will not find elsewhere in Europe. Everything else — the welcome, the advice, the care during your stay — stays with our team.
